Core Infrastructure Stocktake and Infrastructure performance indicators

As a core member of MED's Infrastructure Stocktake team, had wide-ranging responsibilities, including:

  • drafting final 2004 Cabinet paper reporting on outcomes of work programme (drawing together 5 separate consultant / officials' reports and various other "diagnostic" papers plus feedback from the inter-agency working group)
  • reviewing and providing feedback on consultant reports
  • preparing a consultant report "Linkages between infrastructure and economic growth".
  • preparing a background document "Enhanced monitoring of infrastructure" (interviewing key stakeholders, bringing together information from various consultant reports); and
  • undertaking critical analysis of main outputs to identify significant findings of work programme.

In 2006, managed MED's/Statistic NZ's "infrastructure indicators project", including development of criteria for selecting indicators and preparing two substantial scoping papers on indicators for the transport and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors. A change in government priorities saw the project dropped from the work programme in November 2006.
